Yes I was good at the doors . I liked talking to people ,and I would prepare so I was confident in what I was saying . However I was not good at starting studies . I was told it was because I didn't go out enough (never pioneered or auxillary ) I think the real reason was that I never was one hundred percent happy as a witness and wasn't about to trap some other sucker into the unhappiness . Must of the people I met in service were relatively happy with their lives ....why screw it up for them .

YOUR DAILY JOURNAL
by compound complex indear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

I love this thread and always happy to add a bit .
My husband and I took a quick trip to Michigan's Upper peninsula (westside) last week . It was wonderful ! So relaxing . We stayed in a Mom and Pop motel right on the beach of lake Superior. I love to rock hound and this place was Paradise for doing that . We hiked in Porcupine Mountain state park ,and rumaged through old abandon mine dumps looking for cooper and other rocks and minerals. On the way home we stopped for a night in Lake Geneva ,Wisconsin ,a small lake resort town . I hated coming home :(
Being away on vacation this summer first in Colorado and then in Michigan have been a much needed get a way . For some reason being home and constantly reminded of our Witness past has been terribly stressful this year . It was nice on vacation to know when I roamed a grocery store or Wal-mart that I was not going to run into a former Witness friend or relative . How LONG is it going to take me to finally forget them all and not let it bother me seeing them on a daily basis . I want to move on ,but I feel stuck and stagnant .......I need a new fresh focus in my life something I can immerse myself into .
Here is one of my favorite photo's from Michigan :

RE: can elders encourage DF'd persons...
by elderelite in***13. in recent times there have been cases in which an elder happened to meet a disfellowshipped person.
where appropriate, the shepherd briefly outlined the steps to be taken for reinstatement.
some persons like this repented and were reinstated.

No visit would be made on any who evidence a critical, dangerous attitude or who have made it known that they want no help.—Romans 16:17, 18; 1 Timothy 1:20; 2 Timothy 2:16-18.
Oh oh ...I think I fall under this category since I sent them a letter telling them to cease and desist contacting me, and badgering me with questions .
........and I am not even DF'd.....well as far as I know since they can't call to tell me

Attended a funeral this morning
by man in black ina lady i work with recently lost her husband to brain cancer, she is a very nice person so i made it a point to attend his memorial.
mass at the local evangelical church.. as the service went on, the pastor had asked the man's son, brother, and two sisters to give a little speech about their father, and brother.. it was one of the most emotional things i ever witnessed at a funeral.. .
remember, most of these people are from a different religion, or don't have any belief at all.. the brother gave a very nice talk about growing up together, one sister just stuck to her written script, it was very hard for her to speak in public.. the other sister read a letter that she started when her brother discovered that he had cancer, so her letter covered events for two years.. she started crying several times when something she was reading struck her, yet she was able to laugh, and get the entire church to laugh along with one of her personal observations regarding her brother as he grew up.. the most emotional part was when his 23 year old son got up and read a tribute that he wrote to his dad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.

When my own Mother passed away in 2007 I knew she wanted a Witness funeral ,she had been one for over 50 yrs .
I had already begun my fade . The Elder asked to do the service had recently lost his wife, and had always been a more heartfelt person . So when my JW brother and I went to talk with him I brought my Mom's journal with (she had documented highlights of her life ) . I asked him to personalize this service, and not to just preach . I also asked to say a few words ( he didn't know at the time that I was fading ) . To his credit he did give alot of personal accounts in his talk, and he also allowed me to come up and say a few words . Of course he kind of rambled off at the end about the "hope" witnesses believe in ....I thought my non witness Dad was going to get up and strangle him ..(.I had to clear my throat of few times and give him the finger across the throat motion to let him know he was done ....)
It wasn't all I had hoped for my Mom ,but still better than most Jw funeral experiences .
